Lawn Enrichment Log #4- How to care for new sod

1. Your new grass should start growing immediately, but the turf should be protected from people, pets, etc. until the roots are set. The sod should be watered during this time to keep it from drying out. When the grass reaches the intended cutting height, it can be mowed. It should be dry the day it’s mowed, so do not water the day before or day it is scheduled to be mowed.

2. Resume watering schedule after the mow, continuing to make sure that the lawn is dry the day of mowing. At 3-4 weeks, the turf can be fertilized.

To find out more about fertilization options, call Jason at 918-859-3533.

3.  It’s important to keep the new turf free of debris such as leaves to prevent dead patches and pest problems.
